The figure shows the HEPATIQ® software installed on a local workstation in a hospital or imaging center. The clinical physician orders a HEPATIQ test using an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. The patient is scheduled for a HEPATIQ liver SPECT scan in the nuclear medicine department.
The scan is simple. The patient is injected with a standard Technicium-99m sulfur colloid solution and planar and SPECT images captured. The images are saved in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System).
The HEPATIQ software running on a local workstation pulls the images from PACS, analyzes them, and prepares a report for distribution to the clinician. The radiologist (or nuclear medicine physician) reviews the HEPATIQ report and uses that to dictate their own report.
The HEPATIQ software is cleared for sale by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The whole procedure takes less than an hour and the scan is reimbursed by insurance under CPT 78803.
